Everyone needs someone they can depend on when the party is suddenly surrounded by trolls. In modern editions of our favorite game, such an occurrence meant that the party was in for some dire straights, but not so long ago, the adventurers were only part of the strike unit that descended into underground fastnesses in search of treasure. The Henchmen Generator is a tool for Dungeon Masters running OSRIC (or the Advanced rules OSRIC is based upon) that quickly and painlessly serves up the appropriate number of potential swords for hire in a given populated area, complete with stats, hit points and a modicum of personality, ready to be offered paltry wages for the certain doom and destruction they’re about to march into. And if you’re not into letting your players have it easy the Henchmen Generator can also double as a quick way to generate a random party of 1st Level NPCs, just add weapons, armor and spells.
